2007 Toyota AFL Week and Live Site

The 2007 Toyota AFL Week and Live Site bought a week of activities to Federation Square . This included sports panels involving AFL players, couches and staff, a kicking net with a real grass surface for the up and coming AFL stars to mix it up with the real AFL stars of the season, a live broadcast of the 2007 Brownlow Medal count and an excellent range of live performances.

Pinnacle provided production services for the performances from The Australian Idol 2007 top 12, Damien Leif, The Young Divas, Cat Empire, Evermore and Old Man River. These acts each brought in crowds to Fed Square in excess of 5000!

The biggest highlight of the week was the live broadcast of the 2007 Grand Final which brought in a crowd of over 6000 people! The crowd stuck around and were lucky to be a part of the appearance of the 2007 Premiers, the Geelong Football Club.

The AFL, Elite Sports Properties (ESP), Sony and Telstra Big Pond were some of the major partners of the week and Pinnacle Production Services provided stage based production including the live performances.

The Light in Winter

Federation Square established a new winter festival and celebration for Melbourne centred around light. Local and international artists and communities will come together over the next 5 years as the event grows, to create light objects and events to enlighten the City and warm it's seasonally chilled heart. As a result Federation Square will glow with a light that will be noticed across the world.

The Light in Winter is created for Federation Square by Robyn Archer, former Artistic Director of Melbourne International Arts Festival and one of Australia 's best loved artists.

The Light in Winter inaugural event, the Gift of Light , took place in August 2007 with six communities each working with artists to realise an artistic representation of their light. They then presented it to the Square and the broader community in ceremonies which saw the gifts remain at the site for 2 weeks.

Pinnacle Production Services was the presenting partner to the festival and provided all Audio, Visual and Lighting equipment.
